Why We Make Our Own Recipes (And What That Means for Your Skin)

In a world full of “natural” products, it’s easy to assume they’re all made the same way. But at Aide, we do things our own way because we want you to know exactly what’s in your body care, and why it’s there.

Every soap, serum, oil, and scrub we sell is developed by Michelle (Aide owner) and made from scratch in our Oshawa studio using recipes we created ourselves, tested by hand, and perfected over time. No shortcuts. No bulk bases. Just thoughtful ingredients, blended with care.

Not All “Handmade” Means the Same Thing

Many small brands start with a pre-made base soap, lotion, or oil that’s been mass-produced and repackaged. There’s nothing wrong with that, but it’s not how we work.

We write our own formulas. That means every product on our shelves was developed by us, tested in-house, and made in small batches with real intention.

Why It Matters

Creating our own recipes lets us:

  • Choose every ingredient with purpose

  • Control texture, absorption, and scent balance

  • Stay true to our values—low-waste, cruelty-free, and fair trade

  • Make products that actually work and feel good to use

It also means we can listen to our community and adapt. If something’s not quite right, we tweak it. If people are asking for something new, we build it slowly, carefully, and honestly.

What You Get

  • Products you can trust — no mystery formulas or vague labels

  • Consistency you can feel — from the first bar to the fiftieth

  • Ingredients that are there for a reason, not just the name

  • Bodycare made by real people who care about your skin

We’re not here to impress with fancy packaging or complicated routines. We’re here to make good, natural skincare that fits into real life—and to do it in a way that’s sustainable, thoughtful, and transparent.

A Peek at How It Happens

Sometimes a new recipe starts with a scent memory. Sometimes it’s a seasonal ingredient. Sometimes it’s a customer asking, “Could you make something for this?”

Wherever it starts, the process is the same:

  1. We build the formula from the ground up

  2. We test it ourselves

  3. We adjust it until it feels just right

  4. And we only launch it when we genuinely love it

Thanks for choosing skincare that’s made with care—not copied and pasted. It means a lot.
